We will now learn to describe nouns with adjectives.
Chikka - small
Dodda - big
Hosa - new
Halee - old
Sundaravaada - beautiful
Wole - good
Ketta - bad
Bega - fast
Nidana - slow
tumba - very
swalpa - a bit
Now how do we say very small?
Answer: Tumba chika
What about a bit old?
Answer: Swalpa halee.
In lesson 2 we learned a few nouns. We also learned that there is no word for “is”. Now, how do we make a sentence describing how something is? What if we want to say “That is a small bird” ir “That is a new car.”, etc.
Idu dodda mane.
This is a big house.
Adu chikka huva.
That is a beautiful flower.
Adu halee mara.
That is an old tree.
Idu sundara hengasu.
This is a beautiful woman.
If instead you want to say Something is something else, then you can use another sentence structure. Here, the adjective has to be converted by adding “adu” in the end for things and ”avru” for humans.
ii mane doddadu.
This house is a big one. (For: This house is big.)
Aa huva chikkadu.
That flower is a small one.
Aa mara haleedu.
That tree is an old one.
ii hengasu sundarawadavru.
This woman is beautiful.
